Migrant woman attempting to climb over border fence falls, is impaled by steel rod

An illegal immigrant mother of two from Guatemala wound up at an American hospital receiving taxpayer-subsidized care Friday after she reportedly fell while climbing a border fence near the San Ysidro Port of Entry in San Diego and was impaled by a rebar.

“The mother climbed the fence east of the port of entry, where construction crews have been working to replace decades-old primary fencing with a new barrier. When she fell, pieces of rebar pierced her side and buttocks,” The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

“Border Patrol arrived to render medical aid about 8:25 p.m. and requested assistance from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. She was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”

The unnamed illegal immigrant’s two children were also reportedly evaluated and then released back into the custody of U.S. Border Patrol. It’s unclear what will happen to them.

Rodney Scott, chief patrol agent of the Border Patrol’s San Diego sector, was quick to note that the kids would be without a mother right now had it not been for his team’s quick actions.

“Entering our country illegally, particularly over our walls is not only dangerous, but also very foolish,” he said in a statement. “This woman placed her own life and her children’s lives in peril. She could have easily died if not for the quick response by our agents and EMS.”

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection agencies are frequently maligned by Democrats and their media allies for their alleged “cruelty” toward illegal immigrants, particularly children.

The clamor has reached a fevered pitch as of late because of an incoming caravan of illegal immigrants, gang members and migrants headed toward the U.S. border.

The Trump administration’s plans to impede the caravan’s potential march across the border has spawned further accusations of cruelty and inhumanity.

In the case of the illegal immigrant mother who was impaled, a San Diego Border Patrol agent confirmed with BuzzFeed that she was not part of the caravan, which has reportedly set up shop in the neighboring Mexican town Tijuana. It remains unclear how she reached the area.

What is known is that opposition to illegal immigrants and migrant caravans transcends borders, ironically enough, in that even the people of Mexico are tired of it.

Across the San Diego border in Tijuana, locals have reportedly been protesting the caravan on the basis that the migrants are driving down their wages and bringing crime and drugs into their communities.

Their complaints mirror those of their counterparts in America, where for years conservative activists have warned that unchecked illegal immigration will drive down wages, drive up the debt (as per all the welfare doled out to illegals) and damage communities.

Similar criticism has been lodged against the illegal immigrant mother. While everybody agrees that what happened to her was unfortunate, some appear to believe that by treating her at the expense of the American taxpayers, the U.S. government was subsidizing her attempt at illegally entering the U.S.
