Dem Sen. Coons and Cuomo completely dumbfounded over Dick Durbin’s latest Kavanaugh stunt

Some Democrat members of the Senate Judiciary Senate committee have suggested without evidence that the FBI’s past investigations into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s history had uncovered proof of possible “inappropriate sexual behavior or alcohol abuse.”

The key word there is “some,” because other Democrat members of the committee — including Delaware Sen. Chris Coons — don’t have a clue what the “some” are talking about.

This suggestion by some Democrat members was issued after the GOP-led committee posted updates to Twitter on Wednesday about the FBI’s former investigations into the SCOTUS nominee:

The tweets simply made it clear the bureau never found any evidence to suggest Kavanaugh had ever engaged in “inappropriate sexual behavior or alcohol abuse” in his earlier years.

In a letter submitted later that evening to committee chairman Sen. Charles Grassley, the committee’s top Democrat grandstanders — excluding Coons and Sen. Amy Klobuchar — attempted to dispute this fact without providing any evidence.

“Each of us reviewed the confidential background investigation of Judge Kavanaugh before the hearing. While we are limited in what we can say about this background investigation in a public setting, we are compelled to state for the record that there is information in the second post that is not accurate,” they wrote, referencing the committee’s second tweet in particular.

Yet the Democrats didn’t specify a single example. Nor is there any record of them addressing “inappropriate sexual behavior or alcohol abuse” during the nominee’s initial confirmation hearings. Nor has the demonstrably left-wing media ever highlighted any such concerns. It’s as if the Democrats made it up out of thin air, Sen. Dick Durbin leading the charge:

Adding to this theory of Democrats concocting fake allegations is the reaction Wednesday evening by CNN know-it-all Chris Cuomo and his guest, Sen. Coons.

“What information? Why is this coming out now? Why don’t I know what they’re talking about? Why don’t you?” Cuomo asked Coons, referencing the Democrats’ letter.

Coons reacted by essentially admitting he didn’t have a clue:

The reaction on social media to the “dirty game” being played by some members of the Senate Judiciary Committee has been caustic, with many describing the “smears” as “disgusting” and “disgraceful.”

Look:

It’s unclear whether the Democrats’ attempt to smear Kavanaugh’s history will be successful. Judging by the events of the past 24 hours — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell filed for a cloture vote on the nominee’s confirmation, and the White House issued a statement confirming that the FBI’s latest investigation has found nothing — it doesn’t seem like it.
