Alec Baldwin’s controversial impressions of President Trump have apparently gone to his head.
The 60-year-old actor, who has won an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” believes if he ran against the president in 2020, he would definitely win.
“If I ran, I would win,” Baldwin told Howard Stern during an interview on his Sirius XM radio show Monday.
“I would absolutely win. One thousand percent,” he added, though conveniently admitting that his wife’s disapproval and his stint as host of “The Match Game” on ABC would prevent such a possibility.
“Why don’t you run for president as Donald Trump?” Stern asked.
“If I ran for president, I would win. Hands down, I would win,” he said. “It would be the funniest, most exciting, craziest campaign.”
Indeed it would.
Baldwin noted he was joking about running only because “people don’t really have a sense yet” of who’s going to take on Trump in the 2020 election.
“Somebody great is going to come up, I hope,” he said. “I’d love to run for that kind of position to just have things be very common sense. There are so many things that this country needs to do that are so obvious.”
Baldwin claimed that sources have told him that First Lady Melania Trump loves his impression of her husband, which she watches saying, “That’s him, that’s him!”
“She must know what a maniac he is,” he said.
The actor has been more than vocal with his criticism of Trump, who has slammed him on many occasions as well.
Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch. Bring back Darrell Hammond, funnier and a far greater talent!

Agony though it may be, I’d like to hang in there for the impeachment hearings, the resignation speech, the farewell helicopter ride to Mara-A-Lago. You know. The Good Stuff. That we’ve all been waiting for.

Trump supporters were all in for the idea of the Democratic actor hitting the campaign trail.
Lets let him run for it! Democrats should support him. Great leader for the wave!!!!! ?

I think he’ll add Kathie Griffin to the ticket as VP. That will certainly lock in the voters.

Alec, this is real life my friend, not a rehearsed comedy set. Go have a drink with Robert de Niro and talk about his mate Harvey..

— GenGradner (@Genny11Gen) June 12, 2018
That was good for a laugh. Baldwin thinks more highly of himself than most

Too bad he won’t run. All these celebs are all talk no action except for @KimKardashian who actually had a sit down with Trump and got something done. Maybe Alec should choose this route.
