Tucker Carlson pressed California Congressman Eric Swalwell hard for continuing to parrot the narrative that Donald Trump “colluded” with the Russians to win the election.
Carlson introduced Swalwell on Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson Tonight, saying he’s been given a lot of time to come up with sort of “evidence” of collusion.
Immediately, Swalwell launched into a lengthy and convoluted diatribe.
“So, in 2014, 15, 16, Russians hack into our DNC. They weaponize social media. 2015 they make what I think is the first approach that we know. Russian-American, former business partner with Donald Trump approaches Donald Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen and says let’s get Donald Trump to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. We can engineer this, get Trump and Putin together and make our boy president. That’s the first known approach,” Swalwell said.
Tucker played a July 2016 clip where Trump joked about Russia finding the emails and asked Swalwell why they never turned up if Trump and Putin were in cahoots.
“Well, let’s let the Mueller investigation continue,” Swalwell said.
Tucker asked why Trump would be making jokes about Russia in front of millions of Americans if he were secretly on a mission to illegally undermine Hillary Clinton.
“I hate to inject common sense into this…” Tucker joked. “If you’re trying to make secret contact with Russia, your handlers back in Moscow, wouldn’t you dial them up on the short wave in the basement? Would you really sent a coded message in the middle of a joke at a press conference?”
Amazingly, Swalwell latched onto the notion that Trump was sending the Russians some sort of message in the clip.
“I’m not saying he’s the smartest guy in the world, Tucker. Never accused him of that,” Swalwell said.
“So that’s–that’s the smoking gun right there?” Carlson asked.
“No, it’s part of the evidence. An invitation made by the candidate, telling them it’s okay. He’s not the smartest guy in the world,” Swalwell replied.
The allegation made Swalwell an instant laughingstock on social media:
Eric Swalwell is a babbling Democratic idiot.
It's sad that he's actually that stupid and an elected official. @TuckerCarlson torched that fool.🔥🔥
And yes Tucker, this is insane.

Eric Swalwell must wear tin foil hats around the house…to avoid Russian mind reading.
He's a US Congressman?
What a joke. Is it any wonder our government is so screwed up?
Question his mental fitness. Truly.
How'd this guy get elected? Seriously.
He's on Tucker Carlson.

It is pathetic that our government gives access to classified information to morons like Eric Swalwell. #Tucker
