Though the vast majority of people, including liberal media pundits, seemed to agree that comedian Michelle Wolf crossed the line at this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, two people thought otherwise.
This despite the fact that Wolf compared White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to a character in the dystopian film “The Handmaid’s Tale” and referred to her as an “Uncle Tom” for Caucasian women.
She also attacked White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, suggesting it would be nice if a tree fell on her: “All she does is lie. If you don’t give her a platform she has nowhere to lie. It’s like that old saying, if a tree falls in the woods, how do we get Kellyanne under that tree?”
The first member of the veritable “Dumb and Dumb” duo sticking up for Wolf is of course “mean girl” Wolf herself. She caught an attitude on Twitter after being criticized left and right by everyone from Maggie Haberman of The New York Times to Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC.
Look:
That @PressSec sat and absorbed intense criticism of her physical appearance, her job performance, and so forth, instead of walking out, on national television, was impressive.

Hey mags! All these jokes were about her despicable behavior. Sounds like you have some thoughts about her looks though? 😘 https://t.co/JRzzvhBuey
— Michelle Wolf (@michelleisawolf) April 29, 2018
Watching a wife and mother be humiliated on national television for her looks is deplorable. I have experienced insults about my appearance from the president. All women have a duty to unite when these attacks happen and the WHCA owes Sarah an apology.
— Mika Brzezinski (@morningmika) April 29, 2018
Why are you guys making this about Sarah’s looks? I said she burns facts and uses the ash to create a *perfect* smoky eye. I complimented her eye makeup and her ingenuity of materials. https://t.co/slII9TYdYx

Wolf doesn’t seem to fare too well with criticism. Let’s just hope she never has to deal with a heckler, though she did definitely have to deal with incensed Twitter users:

OUCH at the last one!
The second member of the “Dumb and Dumber” duo is liberal elitist Marlow Stern, who penned multiple column in defense of his beloved “mean girl.”
Obsessed much?
Michelle Wolf fires back at @NYTimes reporter Maggie Haberman, who bizarrely accused her of making offensive remarks about Sarah Huckabee Sanders' "physical appearance" at the #WHCD https://t.co/MCuHNctEpL

Here's my profile of the great Michelle Wolf from Jan. (before her Netflix/WHCD gigs were announced): https://t.co/nwaCy0DIRN

#WHCD host Michelle Wolf: “Ivanka Trump's done nothing to satisfy women… so I guess like father like daughter” https://t.co/YVtWNF9iOW
— Marlow Stern (@MarlowNYC) April 29, 2018
“[T]he White House offered up Conway and Huckabee Sanders as sacrificial lambs for the comedy slaughter, presumably choosing these two in order to feign outrage at any low-blow jokes made at their expense,” he wrote in one piece.
He echoed that sentiment on Twitter:
The White House purposely sent Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kellyanne Conway to the #WHCD to then feign outrage at the jokes made at their expense, so… don't fall for it
— Marlow Stern (@MarlowNYC) April 29, 2018
Except neither expressed any outrage, especially not Sanders. Instead she sat stoically throughout Wolf’s whole routine, staring down the “mean girl” like a champion.
And by Sunday morning Sanders had still not spoken publicly or issued any tweets about the previous evening’s events. She was likely busy spending time with her family and preparing for another week of endless attacks from the mainstream media.
Twitter was quick to blast Stern for his nonsense:

It backfired big time indeed! While Sanders gets to return to work Monday at the White House, it remains unclear what awaits Wolf future. Judging by the near-unanimous outrage she triggered with her sleazy jokes, and judging also by her crybaby rants, not much likely looms ahead for her. Sad!
