Journalist attacks ‘maleness’ and ‘whiteness’ of hockey league members who died in tragic accident

A progressive ideologue in Canada couldn’t set her political zealotry aside for even a moment to mourn the tragic loss of 15 members of a junior hockey league team, who died in an accident when their bus collided with a tractor trailer.

The Humboldt Broncos junior hockey league team was on its way to play in a playoff game last week when the accident happened on a highway in Saskatchewan.

Quebec City writer Nora Loreto, who has written for Maclean’s magazine, The Globe and the Daily Mail, seemed to take issue with a GoFundMe account set up for victims surpassing $4 million, as reported by Huffington Post.

On a good news front, the account has now surpassed $11 million as Canadians and hockey fans worldwide took action to support the families.

But the left-wing zealot couldn’t leave it at that, opting instead to follow that tweet up with an insulting, bigoted comment about the “maleness” and “whiteness” of the young men who died in the collision having an impact on the donations.

“I’m trying to not get cynical about what is a totally devastating tragedy,” Loreto tweeted, “but the maleness, the youthfulness and the whiteness of the victims are, of course, playing a significant role.”

Yet, we in America boycott opinion-driven cable news hosts who dare comment on media darling David Hogg whining about not getting accepted by certain colleges — Hogg being the student at the Parkland, Florida, high school targeted by a gunman, who called NRA members “child murderers.”

Not that Loreto, who apparently doesn’t believe in boycotts nearly as much as she does victim-hood, didn’t get her fair ration of… shall we say crap, from social media users.

But Loren was far from done. As progressives are wont to do, she tried to justify her disgusting behavior by expressing concern for “other” victims.

“I don’t want less for the families and survivors of this tragedy. I want justice and more for so many other grieving parents and communities,” she tweeted.

All of which calls to mind the wise words from C.S. Lewis, who cautioned us about omnipotent moral busybodies, noting that “those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

As might be expected, Loreto was eviscerated on social media for her vileness, and while we could go on and on, we’ll share just afew examples to give you a taste.

And to be clear, Loreto had no remorse over her tweets — which, by the way, Twitter let stand.

In a series of tweets raging against those who attacked her, she concluded with this:

“If you’re threatening my job for having dared to talk about systemic racism, you are racist trash and you make me grow more powerful and more thirsty for justice. I will not be bullied into silence. Ever.”
