GOP Rep. Carlos Curbelo of Florida is using his plus one to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on a Dreamer.
“Honored to have Adrian, a #SoFla #DACA recipient, as my guest for #SOTU next week. I was encouraged by the immigration outline the @WhiteHouse released yesterday & look forward to working w/ colleagues from both sides of the aisle to make sure Congress fully recognizes #Dreamers,” Curbelo tweeted Friday.

Trump will give his first State of the Union address Jan. 30.
The Trump administration announced in September 2017 that it was rescinding the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that provides amnesty for roughly 800,000 illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children.
The Senate went into near crisis mode late last week after Senate Democrats shut down the government in an effort to get Republican leadership to cave and include legal protections for Dreamers and members of their families into a bill to keep the government funded.
House and Senate lawmakers were able to come to an agreement on a short-term spending bill that will keep the government open through Feb. 8 and will provide a six-year funding extension of a highly popular children’s health program. Trump signed the bill into law Monday evening.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promised to shepherd Senate negotiations over a legislative fix for DACA. That promise, according to Democratic Senate leadership, is what helped rally Democrats behind the must-pass spending bill.
