“Sh*tholegate” may be all over the news, but meanwhile President Trump is enjoying the exact same approval ratings former President Obama was at this point during his presidency.
Friday’s Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows Trump’s approval rating holding at 46 percent, while 53 percent disapprove.

This number exactly matches former President Obama’s approval / disapproval ratings on January 12, 2010, a rating that would hover in the 40’s for most of Obama’s first term. And yet Obama, a president who lost both houses of Congress, easily coasted to re-election in 2012.
In other words, Trump supporters shouldn’t get all that bogged down in these so-called “approval ratings.”
Trump himself noted the comparison when the ratings were tied last month.
Granted, it’s not exactly anything to write home about, but given the constant barrage of negativity about the president, his agenda, and his administration coming out of the mainstream media these days, not to mention the “Russia hoax,” it’s a miracle the number isn’t far lower.
Of those with the strongest opinions on Trump’s performance, 30 percent “Strongly Approve” and 43 percent “Strongly Disapprove,” giving him a -13 Presidential Approval Index.
With the elimination of Gallup’s daily presidential tracking poll, Rasmussen Reports is currently the sole daily poll. The telephone poll surveys 500 likely voters every night, and compiles the results on a three day rolling average basis. The margin for error is “+/- 2.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.”
