Fox News responds to buzz it’s about to hire Steve Bannon. Americans breathe a sigh of relief.

After Bannon’s fall from disgrace as head of Breitbart’s alt-right watering hole, the former Trump adviser was subsequently dealt a second blow when SiriusXM precipitously dropped the mic on Bannon’s head.

Steve Bannon is without a giant microphone. This is an unusual turn of events in American politics, which follows upon him turning full force on the president and unleashing a litany of nasty barbs.

The former White House strategist, who apparently did his own strategizing in a backroom with a map of blue states and a tin of plastic army soldiers, still had a faint glimmer of hope of remaining relevant as media observers dangled the not-so-tantalizing prospect of Bannon being swooped up by Fox News.

Behold one haunting take from conservative pundit Bill Mitchell:

However, unlike former Bush mastermind Karl Rove, and one-time Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, Fox News says it has no interest in signing Bannon.

It announced on Wednesday in a statement to The Hill:

Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon will not be signed by Fox News following his ouster from Breitbart News on Tuesday, according to the network.

“Fox News will not be hiring Steve Bannon,” a Fox spokesperson confirmed to The Hill.

It looks like the magic carpet ride has ended for the former Breitbart big kahuna. After riding high aloft the wings of ‘white nationalist’ love, it has all ended precipitously for the once-influential leader.

Thus ends the ballad of Steve Bannon.
