Former Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore is being sued by one of his accusers for an apology, according to a Thursday report.
Leigh Corfman, who accused Moore of inappropriate sexual contact when she was a minor, filed a lawsuit against the former Senate candidate alleging defamation, reports The Washington Post.
Corfman is not asking for any money, but wants a public apology from Moore, a block on Moore or his campaign making public attacks against her, and a judgement of defamation, her lawyer Neil Roman told WaPo. Corfman hopes that the lawsuit is able “to do what I could not do as a 14-year-old — hold Mr. Moore and those who enable him accountable,” she said in a statement.
Corfman came forward in a bombshell WaPo report alleging that Moore, in his 30s at the time, inappropriately touched her while she was 14. Despite corroboration from different sources, Moore and his campaign labeled the accusations as “fake news,” and Moore denied the account.
“These allegations are completely false and misleading,” Moore told Sean Hannity after the report dropped. “I believe they’re politically motivated, to stop a successful campaign.”
Moore’s lawyer declined to comment to WaPo on the lawsuit against his client and the campaign.
