Breaking: Omarosa is resigning from the White House

The latest departure from the White House is arguably one of the most poignant.

Omarosa Manigault-Newman, who rose to fame as a contestant on President Trump’s reality TV program “The Apprentice,” will be stepping down from her role in the White House, effective January 20, 2018.

White House Press Secretary told NBC News Manigault-Newman will resign from her position of “to pursue other opportunities.” She currently serves as director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison in the Trump administration.

White House correspondent April Ryan, who recently got owned by Sarah Sanders at a press conference, claims there was “drama” as Omarosa left:

Ryan claims that General Kelly “fired” her:

She says she has “multiple sources,” as much as that is worth from the mainstream media nowadays:

Then she adds an important caveat:

The White House maintains that Omarosa “resigned,” and was not “fired,” as the White House correspondent and CNN political analyst claims. There is no video of Omarosa swearing, so this could yet be proven to be “fake news.”

An OANN correspondent seeking clarification from Omarosa states that she did not have further comment at the time:

Manigault-Newman’s relationship with the President goes back to their time together on “The Apprentice,” where her charisma made her a fan favorite on the show.

She was one of President Trump’s most high-profile female African American supporters during the 2016 presidential race.

The Trump aide was part of an informal group of women called “women for Trump,” who rallied supporters on the campaign trail. Other members of the group included Trump surrogate Katrina Pierson, Trump daughter-in-law Lara Trump, and Youtube stars Diamond & Silk.

The announcement of Manigault-Newman’s impending departure came a week after Deputy National Security Advisor Dina Powell said she would leave the Trump administration at the end of this year.

Departures after year one are typical for new administrations. But Manigault-Newman’s resignation made waves in large part due to her celebrity status and friendship with the President.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information is forthcoming.
