The blame game has already begun.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s group the Senate Leadership Fund has issued a stinging statement to Breitbart CEO and former Trump adviser Stephen Bannon after the projected loss of Alabama senate candidate Roy Moore.
The Senate Leadership Fund tweeted the following:

“This is a brutal reminder that candidate quality matters regardless of where you are running,” it read. “Not only did Steve Bannon cost us a critical Senate seat in one of the most Republican states in the country, but he also dragged the President of the United States into his fiasco.”
McConnell has been a bitter opponent of Steve Bannon, who has pulled out all the stops to elect Roy Moore. Bannon opposed McConnell’s candidate of choice Luther Strange and did not back “Never Trump” favorite Mo Brooks in the three-way primary.
The Senate Leadership Fund is also apparently pointing to President Trump’s endorsement of Roy Moore before the senate election.
“We cannot afford …to lose a seat in the very, very close United States senate. We can’t afford it, folks. We can’t,” Trump said. “We can’t afford to have a liberal Democrat who is completely controlled by Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. We can’t do it.”
“So get out and vote for Roy Moore,” the president added.
On Tuesday, with 93% of precincts reporting and a 1.1 percent lead for Doug Jones, it appears not enough voters heeded the president’s advice.
Roy Moore has not yet conceded the election race to Jones.
