Sen Tim Scott blasts media contention that President Trump is ‘singling out’ minority athletes

Although President Donald Trump intervened to get several shoplifting minorities out of a rough spot in China, the left is somehow twisting his NFL anthem stand and public feud with LaVar Ball over whether or not he deserves a “thank you” for his efforts by trying to make it about the president somehow “singling out” high-profile minorities.

But when ABC host Martha Raddatz tried to push that narrative on South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, an African-American, he was having none of it.

“Do you think the president has a habit of singling out minorities?” Raddatz asked.

“The president is a good counterpuncher,” Scott said. “He doesn’t seem to discriminate from my perspective. I think he attacks anyone he perceives or believes is attacking him or the country.”

Appropriately referencing an ESPN segment called “Come On Man,” Scott said, “Here’s my thought, if you’re going to steal, and you’re going to steal in China and someone gets you out of that you want to say ‘thank you’ – and they should say ‘welcome…”

If the president is going “to bail you out,” the gesture obviously “deserves a thank you without asking for it,” Scott told Raddatz.

Raddatz again pressed Scott on whether Trump was “singling out minorities,” but Scott wasn’t taking the bait, instead stating the obvious fact that the president actually helped minorities.

“I will tell you, from my perspective, the answer is no,” Scott said. “There’s no doubt that if he were singling out minorities in the basketball situation, he singled them out in a positive way. The reality of it is having the President of the United States step in to help you out while in China – that is a powerful move that likely brought those fellas home without having to miss Thanksgiving with their families because the truth is there could have been some really negative consequences to those young folks.”
