Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate life’s true blessings – family, friends, health and life in general.

That said, especially if you’re on the “right” side of things, don’t let anyone tell you it’s shallow to take a few moments to be thankful for a few political blessings, too.

After all, while Donald Trump may or may not have lived up to all the expectations you had for him coming in, America came within a frog’s hair of electing the Lizard Queen herself, Hillary Rodham Clinton, to the highest office in the land. And while that alone should leave us all eternally grateful to merciful Providence, President Trump has, despite his missteps, done plenty of solid work to be thankful for as well.

So, this Thanksgiving, over one year removed from the election that stunned the world, here are our top ten reasons to be thankful that Donald Trump is president instead of Hillary Clinton.

We don’t have to deal with Hillary Clinton’s maniacal laugh for four years

Let’s start with something light, but so, so true. OK, everything about Hillary Clinton is annoying, but that laugh, that grating, nails-on-chalkboard cartoon villain cackle is enough to make any sane individual want to run away like a deer from a forest fire. Seeing her constantly reinserting herself in the public eye is annoying enough, but imagine having to deal with Hillary as president. No, even with the tweets (many of which are pretty good by the way), Trump is way better.

The demise of Political Correctness

In as perfect a characterization as could possibly be imagined, Sebastian Gorka once called Donald Trump the “Kryptonite of political-correctness.” And it was Kryptonite we needed, given the liberal inclination to control all thought and speech through the twisted lens of their warped worldview – otherwise known as “political-correctness.” Oh sure, it still exists, but like a bowling ball to the heart of a set of pins, its power has been shattered by the man who repeatedly promised to do so. And it couldn’t have come a moment too soon.

Hilarious unhinged libs

Good entertainment is always something to be thankful for, and let’s face it, watching libs go berserk is one of the most entertaining aspects of Trump’s win. From on-air media shock and weeping delegates on election night to marching pussy-hats, Lena Dunham, Michael Moore, “Crazy Maxine” and her chants of “Impeach 45!” to Ashley Judd screaming “I’m a nasty woman!” to anyone who will listen, the Lefty reaction to this whole thing has been pretty freaking hilarious.

Tax relief coming

It’s not perfect. Sure, some Republicans are playing the Dem game of “we gotta pay for it” instead of understanding Economics 101, that lowering taxes spurs economic growth, thus resulting in more actual revenue. But still, the House or the Senate version of the tax bill, either of which Trump would sign and Hillary wouldn’t have even considered, will be better for the American economy than doing nothing.

A booming economy

It shouldn’t be the government’s job to “create” jobs or “make” a nation’s economy strong, but, as we learned during the Carter and Obama years, a government can do an awful lot to hinder those things. A booming stock market with record gain after record gain, over a million jobs added, including 261,000 in October alone, and record-low unemployment are all indicative of an administration willing to let go and let the free market do its thing.

A pro-America advocate on trade

If any one issue won Trump the presidency, it was the issue of America’s one-sided, corrupt trade deals that sacrifice our country’s industrial base on the altar of globalism. Finally, a “Rust-Belt” that had suffered for years realized that continually voting for Democrats wasn’t going to bring the factories back. So Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania switched their votes to Trump. Withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership was a great first step, and there will be more to come. There will doubtless be obstacles to any deal Trump tries to make on trade, but there’s no doubt that American workers finally have a voice in the highest office in the land. As the president has consistently said, trade is good, as long as it is fair.

Less burdensome regulations

In late January, President Trump signed an executive order requiring two regulations to be phased out for every individual new one implemented. But they’re not waiting for new ones to implement. Instead, they’re taking a wrecking ball to the whole rotten thing. The Washington Post laments, “Since Jan. 20, Trump’s administration has enthusiastically and systematically undone or uprooted rules, policies and tools that predated his time in office.” And the ratio may be significantly better than two to one. On one of her shows last week, Fox News host Laura Ingraham stated that Trump’s administration has eliminated 16 regulations for every one added.

The Second Amendment

Remember the days when every mass shooting ended with a holier-than-thou lecture from former President Obama and the Dems about how we need more gun control? OK, that hasn’t changed. But back then, when they had power, the erosion of our rights was a real concern. Today we still get the lecture from the Dems, but without a majority in Congress and a president to sign the bills, they can’t pass their evil attempts to deny Americans their God-given rights to self-defense. For at least three more years your guns, and your ability to defend yourself against those who would do you harm, are safe.

Justice Neal Gorsuch

This is the one even the staunchest Never-Trumpers will reluctantly put in the president’s column, but it cannot be mentioned enough. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has plenty of faults, but his gambit on refusing to confirm the arguably “moderate” Merrick Garland, then-President Obama’s pick to fill the late Justice Scalia’s seat, paid off in spades when President Trump won the election. Had he failed, we’d be WISHING for Merrick Garland, BEGGING for Merrick Garland, to no avail. Instead, we’d have likely gotten someone who makes Che Guevara look like a conservative. And it would have all been downhill from there as a decidedly left-wing SCOTUS “ruled'”what’s left of our rights into oblivion.

Remaking the judiciary

It was close between numbers 1 and 2, but this is where Trump’s legacy will be long after he’s left office. Justice Gorsuch gets all the glory, but the lower courts matter as well, sometimes more so, and the pace that President Trump has been nominating, and the Senate has been confirming judges despite Democratic roadblocks is literally record-breaking. When the Heritage Foundation and the Judicial Confirmation Network are working with the GOP on nominations and confirmations, you can bet that the positive effects will be far-reaching, even if the Democrats manage to get back into power.

There you have it. There are plenty more, of course, but these are ten great reminders of what we have to be thankful for politically this Thanksgiving.
