MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt opened the network up to mock-ery after a news report broke that Senator Al Franken had been hit with “groping” accusations from a female sports commentator.
The Senator issued an apology of sorts:
NEW Stmt from @SenFranken: “I certainly don’t remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann.”

Followed by a second lengthier statement that included a more explicit apology, and even called for an ethics investigation… into himself.
Then, Franken was hit by news of a looming second accuser:
Despite the Franken apology and looming ethics investigation, MSNBC chose effectively sided with the accused with its choice of language.
As Newsbusters reported, this is how the news station described the incident:
[Franken] took a picture, which his office now says was of a joke, that showed him potentially — not actually groping — but mock-groping her while she was asleep.”
It doesn’t take instant replay quality superzoom to see that Franken is indeed touching the woman in this picture:
But if that isn’t evidence enough, here’s a pic of Franken full-out groping The View host Joy Behar:

Kassie Hunt had previously given a cozy interview of Senator Franken on MSNBC:
It appears to have been a long-standing “gag” of Franken to grope females in the entertainment industry. But how MSNBC chose to cover the Franken story, that’s another “gag” altogether.
