Don’t adjust your screen, Saturday Night Live did lampoon the Democratic National Committee in response to the party winning the governors races in Virginia and New Jersey on Tuesday.
“We’re back, baby!” declared the cast members playing prominent Democrats.
Kate McKinnon played House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in a fake ad — the result being a far cry from her famed Hillary impersonation.
“We learned out lesson from the last election,” the Pelosi character announced. “We can’t just appeal to coastal elites, we need mouth breathers from Wisconsin.”
“We haven’t felt this confident since the day before Trump won,” said an Alex Moffat played Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Cecily Strong appeared as Sen. Dianne Feinstein and promised “jobs like smuggling immigrants across the border.”
The funniest part of the bit may have been when the Democratic “leaders” raved on about the “fresh new faces” in the party, before introducing septuagenarians such as former Vice President Joe Biden, played by Jason Sudeikis, Sen. Bernie Sanders, portrayed by Larry David and Hillary, of course, with McKinnon doing double duty in the skit.
The fake Hillary asks, or perhaps begged, for “one more chance,” before a Leslie Jones played Donna Brazile pops in to say, “I though she was dead.”
And as the stiff Democrats rejoice over their resurgence, the Brazile character gets the last word, warning, “I will destroy all of this.”
