President Donald Trump spoke Friday in the East Room of the White House in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, but a radiant first lady Melania Trump stole the spotlight.
Hispanic business, community, and faith leaders invited to join in the celebration are sure to be excused if their attention was diverted by Mrs. Trump’s bold ensemble — an outfit that featured a tight-fitting white sweater and a flamenco-style red skirt with ruffles.
And make no mistake about it, President Donald Trump was proud of his beautiful wife, calling her to center stage, as seen in the video below:
The festive, cherry-red Carolina Herrera skirt worn by the former model ensured that all eyes in the room were, fittingly, on her. The snug sweater was reminiscent of 1940s and 50s “sweater girls like Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe, and Jane Russell,” according to The Daily Mail:
At the time, the screen sirens wore their sweaters over conical or bullet-shaped bras in order to truly emphasize their bustline as much as possible – a style choice that Melania opted not to copy.
Instead the First Lady added her own form of flair with a bright bold pair of shoes, pairing the scarlet skirt, which featured fun floral embellishments around the hem, and white top with a pair of red heels.
The bright pop of color ensured she stood out from the crowd as she joined her husband onstage, alongside several other attendees who were all clad in dark suits.
Not one to usually crack a large smile — especially one that bares teeth — Melania seemed to be in an especially buoyant mood, as she showed off her pearly whites with a glowing grin as she mounted the stage — to cheers from the audience.
The fashion statement included matching red stilettos and Mrs. Trump made sure they were not overlooked, including a close up of the shoes in a photo she shared on Twitter:

The haters saw the occasion as just another reason to rip Melania Trump, who was criticized during the president’s trip to Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria… for wearing sunglasses.
