Long after the conclusion of the 2016 election, Democrats are still making excuses for Hillary Clinton’s devastating loss–instead of doing a hard self-evaluation that might actually lead to some electoral wins.
The latest liberal to chime in with her two cents is none other than former First Lady Michelle Obama. In a stunning statement made before an audience at marketing conference Inbound on Wednesday, Obama said “any woman who voted against Hillary voted against their own voice.”

Michelle Obama is something of an odd choice for a conference supposedly dedicated to business, marketing, and sales. But Inbound‘s other guest speakers include Alec Baldwin and Arianna Huffington, so by all appearances it’s less about business and more about giving left-wing talking heads a chance to collect easy speaking fees.
Obama’s dismissal of Trump-voting women–which received immense cheers from the crowd–is itself loaded with sexist overtones. Her argument is that women who supported Trump did so because they were “told to” (presumably by men).
“We look at those two candidates, as women, and many of us said, ‘He’s better for me. His voice is more true to me.’ To me that just says, you don’t like your voice,” Obama said.
“You like the thing you’re told to like.”
The former First Lady’s comments almost suggest that women must automatically support a female candidate. Would she feel the same way if it was the Republicans who ran a woman?
Obama also took time to urge women to “find their voice”–but couldn’t seem to do so without reigniting the war between the sexes. “How many of us have sat in a classroom somewhere and watched a man go on and on and on?” she asked.

Obama’s Inbound remarks are the same identity politics that have become a staple of the Democratic party. It’s an attitude that treats all women like one homogeneous mass.
It doesn’t matter that women come from different geographic areas, cultures, professions, economic backgrounds, religions. For liberals, possession of two X chromosomes destines women to a uniform way of thinking–and voting.
Obama echoes Hillary Clinton, who recently told MSNBC host Joy Reid that Trump-voting women are “disrespecting themselves.”
“When I see women, and look, it’s predominantly white women, let’s just be clear about that. I won women, I lost white women although I got more white women’s votes than president Obama did in 2012 so this is an ongoing challenge.”
“But when I see women doing that, I think why are they publicly disrespecting themselves?”
“Sexism,” “racism,” and the other buzzwords all made it on Clinton’s “What Happened?” list. But how often do you hear the two-time presidential candidate discuss her failure to craft a message that addressed the immigration and trade concerns of the struggling working class in Middle America?
Mrs. Obama may have gotten enthusiastic applause at Inbound, but not everyone was so thrilled with her generalization of women.
