NHL champ Pittsburgh Penguins accept White House invite, crazy liberals line up to make it about race

Just one day after the NBA champion Golden State Warriors were talking amongst themselves about whether or not they should grace President Trump with their presence before being promptly disinvited by the president, the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins took a whole other approach.

Respect for the office of the President of the United States.

The Penguins, who have won back-to-back Stanley Cup titles and consequently have already visited the White House under former-President Obama, made their intentions clear in a statement Sunday morning:

“The Pittsburgh Penguins respect the institution of the Office of the President, and the long tradition of championship teams visiting the White House,” the statement read. “We attended White House ceremonies after previous championships – touring the historic building and visiting briefly with Presidents George H.W. Bush and Barack Obama – and have accepted an invitation to attend again this year.

“Any agreement or disagreement with a president’s politics, policies or agenda can be expressed in other ways. However, we very much respect the rights of other individuals and groups to express themselves as they see fit.”

The Penguins’ statement seems logical and fair to all sides, right? We’re guessing plenty of conservative-leaning sports stars made White House visits with President Obama, a man who they respected for his office but with whom they vehemently disagreed on policy. Shouldn’t the same be the case for the other side?

Apparently not, of course, otherwise this article would end right here. However, the liberal race-baiters have to go out and, well, race bait.

President Trump tweeted his approval Sunday morning:

And plenty of others expressed their happiness that not every sport has lost its collective mind:

And since Keith Olbermann is ticked off, we’re pretty sure the Pens did something right…

But of course, if you’re a leftist who sees everything through the lens of race, you had to make this out to be about your favorite issue.
