Walmart testing service that stocks your fridge while you’re not home

Walmart announced Friday that it will begin testing a new service that allows employees to enter a customer’s home and stock their fridge, to alleviate the stress of shopping.

The retail corporation is targeting busy families looking for a more convenient option for food delivery, the Associated Press reported.

“This may not be for everyone,” Sloan Eddleston, Walmart’s head of e-commerce strategy, wrote in a blog post Friday. “We want to offer customers the opportunity to participate in tests today and help us shape what commerce will look like in the future.”

The Los Angeles Times reported that competition from Amazon, which is also pursuing high-tech delivery solutions, may have spurred Walmart’s decision to launch the service.
