The U.C. Berkeley police have their priorities straight. They harass hot dog vendors while allowing alt-left Antifa thugs to riot and destroy the campus.
Calls are mounting for the University of California at Berkeley to fire bike cop Sean Aranas, who was caught on video ticketing a hot vendor named “Juan” outside the college football stadium.
Aranas ticketed Juan for not having a permit and then rifled through his wallet and took all his money. Aranas later told ABC News off-camera that he issued the ticket on the orders of a supervisor, and took the money as evidence to support his citation.

According to UC Berkeley’s Vice Chancellor, the officer’s actions were in line with the department’s policy and were not unusual or inappropriate. The LA Times reported:
UC Berkeley Vice Chancellor Scott Biddy said vendors typically are given warnings before a citation and explained what prompted the officer to intervene.
“We have instructed our officers to monitor illegal vending outside our event venues. This action has been motivated at least in part by issues of public health, the interests of local small businesses, and even human trafficking,” Biddy said. “In a case such as this, it is typical to collect any suspected illegal funds and enter them into evidence.”
The incident was caught on video by UC Berkeley alum Martin Flores, who had just come from watching a football game with his family. Flores has since launched a GoFundMe page for Juan, which has collected $51,360 in two days.
In the video he shot, an angry Flores is heard asking Aranas why he’s not ticketing people who drink illegally at football games.
“That’s not right. You’re going to take his hard-earned money?” Flores said. “People could drink on campus on football games and get no ticket, but a hard-working man selling hot dogs, earning a living, gets his money taken away and a ticket?
Another person is heard yelling off-camera about Officer Aranas: “He must have voted for Trump!” Before anti-Trump moonbats get their panties in a bunch, keep in mind that Aranas is apparently a Latino who lives in communist petri dish Berkeley. Therefore, the statistical probability that he voted for Trump is miniscule.

A petition to get Officer Aranas fired has garnered 26,000 signatures. UC Berkeley has since issued the following statement: “The officer was tasked with enforcing violations related to vending without a permit on campus. UCPD is looking into the matter.”

Police enforcing the law is fantastic. But it’s unclear why Berkeley cops prioritize harassing a hot dog vendor but did nothing when alt-left Antifa thugs set fires, broke windows, and destroyed the campus in February to protest conservative author Milo Yiannopoulos. As usual, brain-dead leftists miss the forest for the trees.
