Even as special counsel Robert Mueller plays patty-cake with Comey, hires one Hillary crony after another for his team and expands his investigation into whether or not Donald Trump legally bought a pack of Skittles at a 7-Eleven when he was 12, one (so-far) lone congressman thinks maybe there should be some congressional oversight.
Perish the thought.
According to a letter obtained by The Daily Caller, Texas Republican Rep. Brian Babin has drafted a letter asking fellow members to sign-on to a request that Mueller publicly appear before Congress.
So far there are no takers, but if Babin can get support for the idea he will send it on to House Judiciary chairman Bob Goodlatte and Senate Judiciary chairman Chuck Grassley,
“Every nominee for United States Attorney must be confirmed by the Senate, a process that brings to the forefront any concerns regarding the nominee’s ability to hold their position in a decent and impartial manner. However, as Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III and his team of lawyers investigate our very own president, we as a nation wait in the dark with very little information about those given this great authority,” wrote Babin, adding that the Democratic donor aspect of Mueller’s team raises “serious concerns.”
“In addition, this investigation has the potential to drag on for months, or even years, and cost millions in taxpayer dollars,” Babin wrote.
The congressman’s goal is to use the judiciary committees to “bring Mr. Mueller and his team out of the shadows” and make him answer for the “potential expenses incurred by Mr. Mueller, the scope of his investigation and the selection of his special council team.”
The letter will remain open for signers until September 6. Will any other Republicans have the guts to sign it?
Babin spokesman Jimmy Milstead told The Daily Caller, “We don’t see why there shouldn’t be very strong support.”
