Reality TV star Mama June Shannon has maintained her eye-popping 328-pound weight loss for almost a year and has never felt better.
Mama June, who starred on the TLC series “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” recently chronicled her weight loss on the reality show “From Not to Hot.”
The show wrapped in April 2017, but could return for season 2 based on all the buzz Shannon has generated for her jaw-dropping makeover.
The 5-foot-4 Shannon — who once topped the scales at 460 pounds — now weighs a sleek 132 pounds, thanks to diet and exercise.
As BizPac Review previously reported, Mama June kickstarted her weight loss journey in 2016 by undergoing gastric sleeve surgery that cut the size of her stomach in half. As a result, she can no longer overeat the way she used to.
Shannon also got several plastic surgeries to remove excess skin from her arm “bat wings,” stomach, and “turkey neck.” June also got breast implants, a tummy tuck, and liposuction.
Shannon reportedly spent $100,000 between the weight loss surgery, plastic surgery, liposuction, and skin-removal operations. She recently told Dr. Oz she feels so much better now that she’s no longer morbidly obese. “My back doesn’t hurt as much,” she said.
The mom of reality TV star Honey Boo Boo said she follows a portion-controlled diet and exercises regularly — something the former couch potato never did before.
Shannon initially wanted to lose weight to make her ex-husband, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, jealous.
“My goal when I first started this weight loss journey was to make Sugar Bear kind of jealous,” she revealed on her reality show From Not to Hot. “But it’s no longer about revenge.”
Now, she wants to stay thin to be healthy and set a good example for her four children, who are all obese.
In April 2017, June discussed her weight loss with talk show host Wendy Williams, who said she’s skeptical Shannon will be able to keep the weight off.
“Weight loss is one thing. Keeping it off is another,” Williams told Mama June (see video). “You really have to change her mindset and your way of life.”
Shannon admitted that keeping the weight off is hard because she still gets the urge to overeat even after weight-loss surgery.
Still, she’s confident she can maintain her weight loss for the long haul because she’s extremely motivated by how great she feels.
“I will never let the weight come back,” June told Access Hollywood. “I’m very obsessed with the scale.”
