The owner of a New York City bar is refuting claims by a customer that he was refused service for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
The large bar tab, including a voluntary gratuity as shown on the man’s receipt, are proof that he was “sufficiently pleased” with the service he received, according to Jon Neidich, owner of The Happiest Hour, the New York Post reported.

“The signed, itemized credit card receipt puts the lie to Plaintiff’s outrageous and disparaging claims,” Neidich said in a new Manhattan Supreme Court filing.
Greg Piatek, an accountant from Philadelphia, filed the lawsuit in March claiming he was snubbed then refused service because of his pro-Trump attire.
According to the Post:
He claimed that he and a group of pals were served one round of drinks by a female bartender in January, but they were ignored after that and then told to leave, with a manager saying, “Anyone who supports Trump — or believes what you believe — is not welcome here!”
The receipt shows Piatek paid $186 for four ‘Bell of the Ball’ signature cocktails, four Miller High Life beers, a Ketel One vodka, one Tito’s vodka, four Lagunitas beers, and three ‘Maid to Order” specialty drinks.
But Neidich called Piatek’s discrimination suit “a publicity stunt,” noting that the customer “was sufficiently pleased with his service at the bar that he added” a $36 tip.
Piatek’s attorney, however, claimed his client’s friends – who were not wearing Trump hats – were served without incident.
“It just happened to be his particular card that was on the tab. He was in fact refused service and we stand by that,” attorney Paul Liggieri said.
He also explained that Piatek left a generous tip because he has “such a good heart that he’s going to tip no matter” how he’s treated.
