Taking three full days to bring herself to apologize, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling still couldn’t bring herself to include President Donald Trump in her mea culpa.
Returning to the scene of her earlier aberration, social media, where Rowling tweeted a selectively edited video and falsely accused the president of ignoring a small boy in a wheelchair at a White House press event, Rowling extended an apology to the boy, 3-year-old Montgomery Weer, and his family.
“I very clearly projected my own sensitivities around the issue of disabled people being overlooked or ignored onto the images I saw,” Rowling wrote. “If that caused any distress to that boy or his family, I apologise unreservedly.”
But she lacked the class to apologize to the person she attacked — President Trump, who she called a “monster of narcissism,” claiming he “pretends not to see a child in a wheelchair, as though frightened he might catch his condition.”
“That clip of Trump looking deliberately over a disabled child’s head, ignoring his outstretched hand, has touched me in the raw,” Rowling tweeted on Monday. “How stunning, and how horrible, that Trump cannot bring himself to shake the hand of a small boy who only wanted to touch the President.”
As we now know, Trump did not ignore the young boy and can be seen in a longer video stopping to acknowledge the child, to include bending down to say hello.
So @jk_rowling is on a tirade about how Trump ignored a kid in a wheelchair, but she conveniently left out the clip from the beginning: pic.twitter.com/v3tBXI8WY9

The most delicious aspect of the whole calamity is that of all people, Piers Morgan weighed in to defend Trump!
, Morgan ripped the author, taking to Twitter to call her a “disgraceful liar” as he pushed Rowling relentlessly to apologize.
So @jk_rowling STILL hasn't deleted her vicious lies about Trump snubbing a disabled boy?
OK, time for a @DailyMail column. pic.twitter.com/myVBXJlxTc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 31, 2017
JK Rowling, in 8 tweets, raged that Trump snubbed a disabled boy.
This is Trump greeting that boy.
Why won't she delete & apologise? pic.twitter.com/c61cqRoBzE— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 30, 2017
Delete your vile tweets, @jk_rowling & apologise to @realDonaldTrump – or confirm yourself as a lying hypocrite.https://t.co/zA5fpF2Stw pic.twitter.com/qaQo27Ij5D

JK Rowling's 8 abusive tweets remain up, 48hrs after they were proven to be based on a lie. https://t.co/SU4XLEtNWO

Morgan also called out Chelsea Clinton, who was only too happy to bash Trump by sharing the selectively edited video Rowling tweeted:
Hello Piers-I hadn't seen the full video until now. I removed the retweet. And, the President should have shaken the boy's hand at the end.

And somehow, we get the feeling Morgan isn’t finished here, given Rowling’s half-hearted apology:
Scaramucci’s replacement could be biggest game-changer yet
BREAKING: @jk_rowling announces she will delete tweet lies about Trump & disabled boy.
Apologises to boy & his family but NOT to Trump.— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 31, 2017
