Conservative radio host Mark Steyn called out the “Orwellian assault” of  Canada’s new law which criminalizes the use of wrong gender pronouns.
The best-selling author discussed the absurd law and its consequences with Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson, explaining that Canadians recently passed a bill placing gender identity in the country’s Human Rights Code.

“What we are witnessing is an Orwellian assault on the most fundamental language–the language which defines the two sexes and Canada has just put itself on the side of criminalizing that,” Steyn said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Tuesday.

Steyn noted that although the hate speech section of the Canadian Human Rights Act was repealed, it is like “one step forward, two steps back.” as the new law imposes fines and jail time to anyone who misuses gender pronouns.
“As soon as you have a small victory, the identity group left throws something else into the mix,” he told Carlson, who asked to clarify if he was even understanding the new law.
“Mis-gendering someone will risk you being embroiled either in a human rights commission or in a criminal court and this isn’t a hypothetical,” Steyn continued.
“Somebody is already in trouble with a supposedly trans-friendly female gym where because one of the trans-women still had, what we used quaintly to regard as male private parts but can now be attached to anybody, and it was felt that with these particular parts she shouldn’t be strolling around in the communal shower,” Steyn said. “That trans-friendly gym is already in trouble.”
“Fundamental language that corresponds with fundamental biology all of which is now mandatory to deny,” Carlson noted, seeming shocked.
Steyn compared the ludicrous leftist law to other inane liberal notions.
“It’s like Spanish birth certificates where because Mommy and Daddy are bad words, it says ‘progenitor one’ and ‘progenitor two,'” Steyn said. “Try it in a singles bar. Go into a singles bar, Tucker, and say ‘do you want to come back to my place and play progenitor one and progenitor two tonight?'”
“Imagine being a high school biology teacher,” Carlson laughed. “You’d be suicidal by now.”
