She fought the tree and the tree won.
Freshman Texas lawmaker Victoria Neave, who went on a hunger strike to protest a Texas anti-sanctuary city bill, was arrested for drunk driving after smashing her BMW into a tree late Tuesday night.

Her arrest marks the second time in as many weeks that she received negative publicity. She became the butt of Krispy Kreme jokes late last month after announcing she would starve herself to support illegal immigrants — for three whole days.
At time time of her arrest, Neave, 36, smelled strongly of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, slurry speech and was unsteady on her feet.

On Wednesday she posted a video apology to her Facebook page in which she claimed “I will accept full responsibility for my actions.”
Well, maybe not full responsibility — she invoked her Fifth Amendment right to remain silent to the arresting officers and refused breathalyzer test.
Neave did, however, repeatedly tell officers that she loved them.
After news of her arrest het media outlets, Dallas County Democratic Party Chair Carol Donovan issued this statement:
We understand, and are thankful, that no other person was involved or injured in the accident. Nevertheless, we look forward to speaking with her regarding the facts of her case and to insure she is alright. We wish her the very best and pray for her swift recovery so that she can resume her strong representation of the citizens of House District 107.

But something was missing from Lopez’s report — party affiliation.
