Just as lipstick won’t be of much help to a sow, the opposite equally applies.
Someone already in possession of beauty and poise doesn’t need couture fashion to bring out her best — it just naturally shines through on its own.
First daughter Ivanka Trump looked breathtaking when spotted leaving her Washington, D.C. digs Monday, but the outfit she was wearing wasn’t some hoity-toity label only affordable to the rich and famous.
The black and white number was an off-the-rack dress available from Target for the everyday price of $35, according to The New York Post.
It’s since been marked down to half-price in the store’s clearance section.
Although the press has given former first lady Michelle Obama passes for wearing multi-thousand dollar apparel, Trump — a wealthy woman in her own right — has been criticized for doing the same.
The Post reported:
Trump, who owns her own clothing brand, can also sometimes be seen sporting her own design, though that too comes with its share of criticism. In November, her company came under fire for promoting a $10,000 bracelet she wore during a “60 Minutes” interview, prompting critics to raise potential ethics issues involving the First Family and their business ties.
Because Trump’s father is president, liberals called for a boycott of her clothing line, which resulted in several retailers removing her items from their stores.
The boycott eventually failed, however, prompting a San Francisco-area clothier to sue her, claiming her brand gets an unfair advantage — because her father is president.
Without surprise, Trump received lots of hate for her attire, but also got her share of praise for her apparel — and for how she turned heads in it.
