President’s ‘threatening a witness’: CNN is ‘disturbed’ by Trump’s Yates tweet

With former acting Attorney General Sally Yates expected to testify Monday afternoon before a Senate subcommittee, President Donald Trump posed his own question about classified information being leaked to the newspapers.

The query was enough to send CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin into a lather, claiming Trump crossed the line of expected behavior from a president, who was “threatening a witness.”

Now that’s one heckuva reach!

“It just shows how much the norms of behavior have changed,” Toobin said Monday. “The idea of the President of the United States essentially threatening a witness, he’s basically accusing her of leaking, we have never had that before.”

Never mind that Trump simply asked a question on social media.

“We’ve never had presidents who did this kind of thing,” Toobin added. “The idea that the president — the guy who’s in charge of the Justice Department — is threatening a witness is really kind of disturbing.”

And if he’s disturbed by that, it’s almost a guarantee Toobin isn’t going to like a rather humorous tweet from a parody account of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer:

The left is banking on Yates testimony to rejuvenate the stalled narrative about so-called collusion between Trump campaign officials and Russia, as one social media user suggested:
