Benghazi Hero to Fox News: Trump should ‘make an example’ of Susan Rice

U.S. Army veteran and Benghazi hero Kris Paronto believes President Trump needs to “make an example” out of former National Security Advisor Susan Rice.

The private security contractor, who helped save lives during the 2012 terrorist attack on the US Special Mission in Libya, said comments by the former Obama administrator have made him “throw up in my mouth a little bit.”

“She has no credibility,” Paronto said on “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday. “I don’t know how people continue to believe her.”

Rice reportedly ordered the unmasking of identities of President Trump’s team that were part of classified intelligence reports. While initially saying she knew nothing about the reports, she later changed her story to say that, though sometimes she did ask to reveal the identities of U.S. citizens incidentally collected in surveillance, the purposes were never political.

“Double-talk, half-truths, that’s still lies,” Paronto said. “Within the veterans’ community, within Rangers, SEALs, Marines, there’s no such thing as a half-truth. It’s a lie or it’s not a lie.”

He pointed to Rice’s questionable past with truth-telling, recalling her public comments on Benghazi as she made the media circuit after the attack, repeating the claim that the spontaneous assault was sparked by an anti-Islamic video. The story of Paronto’s heroic actions during the hours of the attack that left four Americans dead, including US Ambassador Christopher Stevens, are recounted in the book, “13 Hours.”

Paronto believes Rice sees herself as “untouchable” because she has not been held accountable for her past lies. He hopes Trump thinks otherwise.

“The Trump administration has been given a golden egg,” he said. “He could make an example of a politician, of a bureaucrat” and it would “stop a lot of he half-truths that go out.”

Paronto revealed that playing politics in not unusual in the operations of U.S. intelligence agencies.

“In my experience, limited experience,” he said, “I have seen politics play big roles in the agency” and it is another example of the change that Trump can make.

“President Trump’s been given an opportunity here to set a precedent and stop this,” he said.
