‘Eye candy’? Exasperated libs are freaking out over Ivanka’s official, new White House role

Is there nothing to tame this savage beast we call the left?

The left is howling because first daughter Ivanka Trump set aside her fashion and accessory business interests to accept an unnamed advisory position in the White House without compensation.

Last week Ivanka Trump was assigned a second floor West Wing office ands began the process of obtaining a security clearance and government communication devices.

But Wednesday it was all made official as President Donald Trump’s first daughter accepted the position of Special Assistant to the President and became a federal employee.

Hillary Clinton had a West wing office and drafted a comprehensive health insurance plan during her husband’s administration. Robert F. Kennedy was his brother’s Attorney General.

Nonetheless, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Tom Carper of Delaware, both Democratic senators, wasted not second in shooting a letter off to the Office of Government Ethics stating their concerns over the arrangement.

Ivanka Trump attempted to address their fears in a statement.

“I have heard the concerns some may have with my advising the president in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules and I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House office, subject to all of the same rules as other federal employees,” she said in her statement to The New York Times.

“Throughout this process I have been working closely and in good faith with the White House Counsel and my personal counsel to address the unprecedented nature of my role.”

The White House welcomed Ivanka Trump’s new West Wing role with its own statement to the Times.

“We are pleased that Ivanka Trump has chosen to take this step in her unprecedented role as First Daughter and in support of the President,” a spokeswoman for the president told The Times. “Ivanka’s service as an unpaid employee furthers our commitment to ethics, transparency, and compliance and affords her increased opportunities to lead initiatives driving real policy benefits for the American public that would not have been available to her previously.”

But it was all a piercing dog whistle to liberals. The Huffington Post’s David Yankovich honed in on her “voluntarily complying” statement, which prompted additional commentary:

Freelance Radio 1 content producer Mike P. Williams thought it another day in white privilege paradise in a series of tweets dripping in sarcasm.

Given Ivanka Trump’s liberal leanings — especially on women’s issues — her appointment even upset some conservatives.

Amanda Carpenter, former Ted Cruz comms director, Jim DeMint speechwriter and conservative CNN contributor went so far as to claim Ivanka Trump wasn’t qualified to take on the position.
