Fox News’ Bret Baier defends his coverage of Sessions nothing-burger to angry viewers

Fox News “Special Report” anchor Bret Baier defended his coverage of Attorney

General Jeff Sessions not mentioning a meeting with the Russian ambassador last year.

In an exchange with Chris Stirewalt, a panelist on the All-Star Panel, Baier pointed to comments he has received on social media from viewers who are not happy with the coverage.

demands ‘immediate investigation’ into photo of him

“Chris, I get all these tweets and Facebook posts about why are you covering it? It is fake news. There is no there there,” he said.

“But you did have the attorney general recuse himself today,” Baier continued. “It is news.”

Baier went on to suggest that Sessions should have recalled his meeting with the ambassador or “clean it up” afterward if he did forget.

Stirewalt jokingly suggested that Baier not check online responses.

“Never check the mentions,” he said. “This is not a day to check your mentions. Don’t do it.”

The guest panelist then explained that because of a few “oopsies” already, the Trump administration has “no more room for error anymore” when it comes to Russia.
