It seems much of the nation is at each other’s throats over politics these day and the world of celebrity-dom is no different as seen when two superstar divas went at each other on social media.
Things escalate real quick in an exchange between Azealia Banks and Rihanna over President Donald Trump’s recent executive actions on immigration and refugees.
The spat began Saturday when Rihanna posted an unhinged rant about the president on Twitter:
Disgusted! The news is devastating! America is being ruined right before our eyes! What an immoral pig you have to be to implement such BS!!
— Rihanna (@rihanna) January 29, 2017
Banks, who endorsed Trump for president, hit back hard with a post on Instagram, according to Radio.com.
“[A]s far as Rihanna (who isn’t a citizen, and can’t vote) and all the rest of the celebrities who are using their influence to stir the public, you lot really REALLY need to shut up and sit down. Stop chastising the president. It’s stupid and pathetic to watch. All of these confused people confuse other confused people.”
Things got uglier when Rihanna responded with an image on Instagram, along with the caption: “the face you make when you a immigrant #stayawayfromthechickens #iheartnuggets #saveourhens.”
Omarosa steamrolls the ladies of ‘The View’ before delivering Joy Behar a brutal parting shot
The hashtags an apparent reference to a video in which Banks says she sacrificed chickens as part of a personal ritual, poor grammar notwithstanding.
Rihanna also posted a screen shot of some texts she received from Banks, Radio.com reported.
Including this gem: “I don’t have to do anything to you miss. Beyonce is already working heavy on you. Ever think to stop and think that’s why you have a drug and sex addiction? Lol, girlie. Best of luck.”
Banks, who once called for Sarah Palin to be gang raped by a group of black men, then ratcheted things up even more by “doxing” what was supposedly Rihanna’s personal phone number on her Instagram page, along with the caption: “Bombs Away.”
The post has since been removed, but copies are floating out there in cyberspace.
And while it’s hard to image who would give a flip what either overpaid celebrity thinks, the A-list scrum did give commoners an opportunity to have some fun on Twitter.
Here’s a sampling of some of the responses:
