Not all “Star Trek” cast members are like George Takei — tilted so far to the left as to be unable to distinguish truth from reality.
And at least one Hollywood actress considers her brethren to be bullies for the way they have acted toward President-elect Donald Trump has been since his election.
“We got cocky and became arrogant and we also became bullies,” Zoe Saldana, who portrayed Nota Uhura in the motion picture version of “Star Trek” and “Star Trek Beyond” said, according to a Agence France-Presse report.
“We were trying to single out a man for all these things he was doing wrong,” she continued, “and that created empathy in a big group of people in America that felt bad for him and that are believing in his promises.”
That’s not to say, however, that Saldana is a Republican or supported Trump during the campaign. Although she was “in with Hillary,” she recognizes a disservice when she sees one.
In fact, while the presidential race was raging on, she signed a letter calling Trump “an amateur with a contemptuous ignorance of national laws and international realities.”
But she now joins Australian-born actress Nicole Kidman in saying it’s time to move on and rally behind the president-elect.
“He is now elected and we as a country need to support whoever is president because that’s what the country’s based on,” Kidman told BBC.
For that statement, Kidman was mercilessly hung out to dry by the Hollywood crowd.
This year’s Golden Globes awards were marked by more Trump bashing than praising from the awardees. Actress Meryl Streep was especially vocal in her tirade against the president-elect — and the White House actually applauded her for that.
Just like Kidman before her, Saldana’s opinions got her hammered in return.
