Is he turning over a new leaf? Or has he just plain run out of excuses?
During an interview that aired Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” President Obama told host George Stephanopoulos that he bears some responsibility for the heavy losses the Democratic Party took during the eight years of his administration — not only in Congress but at the statewide level as well.

When the ABC News host observed at about the 8:30 mark that the “Democratic Party got pretty hollowed out on your watch,” Obama agreed and said, “I take some responsibility on that.”
But not all or even most, apparently. He also blamed circumstances for the Democratic losses.
“I think that what is also true is that– partly because my docket was really full here– I couldn’t be both chief organizer of the Democratic Party and function as commander in chief and president of the United States,” he said. “We did not begin what I think needs to happen over the long haul, and that is rebuild the Democratic Party at the ground level.”
Displaying a total lack of self-awareness, Obama said that he tried to impress upon his successor President-elect Donald Trump that that “there is a difference between governing and campaigning.”
Obama has often been criticized for spending too much time on the campaign trail and not enough taking care of his presidential duties.
He also took a glancing shot at Trump.
“You can’t manage [the United States] like you do a family business,” he said.
