Even the Clinton Foundation hierarchy knew that things weren’t exactly financially Kosher with the Clinton Foundation.
Newly-released emails reveal that former Bill Clinton senior aide Doug Brand once accused daughter Chelsea Clinton of siphoning off foundation funds to help pay for her wedding and avoid taxes while campaigning.
The exchange began when Brand, who helped found the Clinton Global Initiative, emailed Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta in 2012 that Chelsea Clinton told one of former President George W. Bush’s twin daughters that she had initiated an internal audit of the foundation’s finances.
“I have heard more and more chatter of cvc [Chelsea] and bari talking about lots of what is going on internally to people,” Band complains in the exchange. “Not smart,” according to the email released by WikiLeaks.
Podesta replied that Brand’s reference to Chelsea Clinton as “not smart” was an “understatement.”

But Brand wasn’t finished. He then directed more serious allegations against the Clinton daughter.
“I learned from the best,” he began, in apparent response to Podesta’s observation of Brand’s understatement.
“The investigation into her getting paid for campaigning, using foundation resources for her wedding and life for a decade, taxes on money from her parents,” he wrote.
“I hope that you will speak to her and end this. Once we go down this road.”

It’s not known whether anything came of Brand’s allegations.
