Win or lose, anyone who has thought about this thing for more than two seconds knew this was a possibility, but Texas Representative Blake Farenthold has finally put into words what everyone is likely thinking regarding the Hillary Clinton email scandal – the very real possibility of a presidential pardon.
Farenthold went on Newsmax TV with Steve Malzberg to discuss the reopening FBI investigation into Clinton’s private email server.
“I think win or lose there’s a presidential pardon in her future,” Farenthold said. “Historical precedent was set when Ford retroactively pardoned Nixon. I don’t think that’s good for our country but I’m afraid that’s going to happen.”
“Can you imagine what it would be like,” the Newsmax host asked, “dealing with a sitting President who before he or she were inaugurated had to get a pardon from an outgoing President? What would that be like?”
It surely wouldn’t be pretty, but then again, as Farenthold made abundantly clear, once a crook, always a crook!
“Well, it certainly would take some stuff off the table, but I don’t think she will be able to take her hand out of the cookie jar even after a pardon. You can only pardon for things that have been done. You can’t pardon for future crimes,” Farenthold said.
