While many offered condolences and sympathy, the online blog Jezebel came up with a tasteless reaction.

Twitter users were appalled and let the blog, published by Gawker Media, know it was “not cool” regardless of your ideology and political party affiliation to mock the death of a family pet.

The online article featured the same headline, but offered a small note of sympathy within.
“The Slot sends our thoughts and prayers to Maverick and family during this sad time,” it read.
But on Twitter, the outrage crossed party lines and united social media users in their disgust.
