Cooper thinks he helped Hillary with 3 AM tweet question: Surprise! Trump uses it to bury her, instead

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said at Sunday night’s debate that he has no regrets for his 3:00 A.M. twitterfests, and managed to turn the question he was given on the subject around to attack his opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked Trump if his early morning tweeting signified a lack of discipline, a quality the candidate wrote was an important characteristic of a leader.

Cooper specifically brought up his tweets about Clinton supporter and former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, and referred to “one that told people to check out a sex tape,” Cooper said.

Trump disagreed with the manner in which Cooper characterized the tweet.

“It was just take a look at the person that [Clinton] built up to be this Girl Scout,” Trump said.

Then he turned it around to Clinton, noting that she was AWOL as secretary of State during the 13 hours that the American diplomatic outpost at Benghazi, Libya was under attack.

Three A.M. is significant for Clinton, because during her 2008 presidential bid, one of her TV ads implied she would be the best to answer a 3 A.M. phone call to the White House.

“Ambassador Stevens sent 600 requests for help,” Trump said. “And the only one she talked to was Sidney Blumenthal, who’s her friend and not a good guy.”

He also observed that the use of social media is nothing more than “a modern-day form of communication,” and added that it was an effective way to communicate and he was “not un-proud of it.”
