Although Donald Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani described the sexually aggressive comments Trump made during a decade-old taped interview “reprehensible,” he nonetheless continued to back the Republican presidential nominee 100 percent.
The former New York City mayor’s continued support for Trump prompted Fox News host Chris Wallace to wonder out loud whether he appeared on “Fox News Sunday” because campaign manager Kellyanne Conway was “unwilling to defend” the candidate’s remarks.

After playing a short clip taken from the 11-year-old “Access Hollywood” interview, Wallace observed that Conway was originally scheduled to appear on his program.
“I gotta to ask you: Was Kellyanne Conway unwilling to defend Trump’s remarks about women?” he asked Giuliani.
“I don’t think anyone is going to defend his remarks,” the former mayor answered. “Is Kellyanne still a very strong supporter of Donald Trump, and does she believe he’d make a better president than Hillary Clinton? Absolutely, yes.”
And in support of his appraisal, “New Yorker” writer and CNN contributor Ryan Lizza tweeted:
Kellyanne Conway tells me she is NOT resigning. “That is silly,” she texts. (There was speculation after she canceled tv appearance on Fox.)

“Fox News Sunday” wasn’t there only Sunday talk show where Giuliani was brought in as a last-minute replacement. He also took over for Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”
Boston Globe deputy Washington Bureau chief Matt Viser tweeted:
Reince will not Face the Nation tomorrow. CBS says Trump campaign “wanted a campaign person” to appear instead. So Rudy Giuliani it will be.

Giuliani dismissed Conway’s non-appearance as a scheduling conflict.
“I’m not here to defend his comments,” he said. “If he were here, he wouldn’t be defending his comments. His comments were wrong. They were very wrong and reprehensible, and he has said that, and he has apologized for it.”
