Megyn Kelly doubles down: Why can’t Trump fans ‘shut up’ about ‘how big women are supposed to be’?

Fox News host Megyn Kelly wondered why Donald Trump and his supporters can’t just “shut up about… women and how big they’re supposed to be.”

She made her comments Thursday night in response to the Republican presidential nominee’s statement that he’d actually been supportive of a former Miss Universe when addressing her weight — it was done to help her retain her title.

Trump supporter and Navy SEAL veteran Carl Higbie found it “a little bit ridiculous” that media were focused on something Trump said 20 years ago and were ignoring the very real scandals of his opponent — emails, Benghazi and the Clinton Foundation to mention a few.

When Kelly responded that such remarks hurt Trump’s standing among women and overweight people in general, Higbie said that Trump employs many great women, and none of them have a problem with his comments.

“They’re all very beautiful and none of them is overweight,” she fired back.

Higbie said that Trump actually did former Miss Universe Alicia Machado a favor by allowing her to retain her title despite her massive weight gain, and placed her on a “luxury exercise program.”

“He worked with her,” he said. “And he defended her job because she was overweight and helped her get back down to weight.”

This is another case of a double standard employed by the media in their handling of the two major presidential candidates. While they’re free to bring up Trump’s decades-old comments about Machado, Trump bringing up Bill Clinton’s sexual indiscretions are considered distractions from the real issues.

Earlier in the segment Kelly acknowledged that appearance can legitimately play a role in business.

And on that note, has Kelly taken a good look at her own organization? Fox News has a reputation for employing women who are “all very beautiful and none of them is overweight.”

This even prompted a popular YouTube song, “I Want A Girl Like The Girls On Fox News.”
