When Donald Trump spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders was questioned on her candidate’s lack of mock debate preparation, she said it was due to his interest in the issues as opposed to memorizing pat answers to expected questions.
She made re remarks Monday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom.”

She explained that the Republican presidential nominee prefers his own methodology, which is unlike that of most career politicians.
“He’s not a poll-tested, scripted robot like Hillary Clinton,” she said. “I think that that’s a great contrast to have and one we’re certainly excited to see tonight.”
She laughed when Bill Hemmer observed that some people suggest “he can’t fill two minutes on an answer.”
“I think we’ve seen him do far more on rally stage after rally stage,” she said.
Hemmer’s co-anchor, Martha MacCallum jumped in and said there were times during the primary debates when Trump hung back.
Huckabee-Sanders replied that Trump at that time “did what worked for him and did what he needed to win,” and as a result he emerged the victor out of a 17-candidate field.
“If you’re doing something and it works, don’t change it,” she said.
Huckabee Sanders, the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, became a senior Trump campaign adviser in February after her father left his own 2016 presidential bid. She then moved up to the Trump communications staff early this month after campaign brass thought she was being underutilized.
