Obama wants everyone to stop ‘trash-talking our troops’ – yes, he really said that and more

President Obama tried to take a swipe at Donald Trump on Monday at the Disabled American Veterans Convention when he said he was getting tired of some people “trash talking America’s military and troops.”

Really? That was supposed to be directed against the Republican presidential nominee? Most people on social media thought someone else should be accused of that — namely the president himself.

“No one ― no one ― has given more for our freedom and security than our Gold Star families,” the president said, specifically referencing Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the parents of a U.S. Army captain who was killed in Iraq 12 years ago.

Kahn criticized Trump at the Democratic National Convention last week for his proposed temporary ban on Muslim immigration, and on that basis we’re supposed to believe that Trump is critical of the military.

But the real finger-pointing should be directed against the president.

In his time in office, Obama has slashed promised benefit increases for active and retired service members, reduced the readiness of U.S. armed forces, and done nothing to fix the faltering Department of Veterans Affairs.

He even tried to barricade elderly World War II veterans from their Washington, D.C., memorial in 2013 to retaliate against Republican lawmakers who refused to give in to Obama’s budgetary demands.

America knew all this, and took to social media to place the blame where it belonged.

And whatever military we have left Obama wants to remake into his own image — or at least the image he envisions.
