Now socialist ex-Democrat Bernie Sanders is lecturing Donald Trump about the Constitution

Socialist Bernie Sanders is now lecturing Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on the constitution — but does he mean the U.S. Constitution or the Soviet Constitution?

The Vermont Independent, who refers to himself as a “democratic socialist,” made his remarks on Bill Maher’s HBO show “Real Time.”

Right out of the gate Sanders took aim at Trump, calling him “the most dangerous presidential candidate in the modern history of this country.” That was in answer to Maher’s question of how he would have rated the Democratic National Convention.

He said he based his assessment on not just Trump’s “absurd views on so many issues” such as climate change and tax breaks for the wealthy, “but above and beyond all of that, this guy is running his entire campaign based on bigotry.”

Sanders referred to the Thursday night convention speech of Khizr Khan, the father of a U.S. Army captain who was killed by a suicide bomber in Iraq.

“I think that Muslim father of the young man who died in Iraq was absolutely right: that somebody like Trump does not understand the Constitution of the United States,” Sanders said.

He added that many Republicans share his view as well.

Khan’s speech was described by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as “undoubtedly the best speech of the entire [Democratic] convention”

Sucked in by the emotion of the speech, Fox News host Megyn Kelly got into a heated exchange with Huckabee when she tried unsuccessfully to dissuade his approval of Trump’s position on a temporary ban of Muslim immigration.

Watch the testy exchange: Watch Megyn Kelly get testy with Mike Huckabee because she can’t turn him into a liberal thinker

As for Trump being constitutionally illiterate, Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution provides that “Congress shall have power . . . To establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization.”

So it’s up to Congress to establish whatever immigration laws it deems proper.
