For better or worse, the digital age is offering up a whole new level high-tech pranks.

Comedian and show host Ellen DeGeneres ramped up her ongoing prank battle with NBC’s “The Today Show” star Matt Lauer using some doctored images. In a video aired on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” Monday, Lauer is seen walking the red carpet wearing nothing but a white dinner jacket and tie.

“It is known as the party of the year, and of all the parties I don’t go to, this is one of the biggest,” DeGeneres said of the Met Gala.

“All the celebrities come dressed in elaborate outfits, and here’s a little bit of what was on the red carpet.”

The clip showed Beyoncé and Taylor Swift swooning for the crowd before cutting to the scantily clad Lauer who even did a little red-carpet dance.

“Just when Matt thinks it’s over,” DeGeneres joked. “It’s not over! Sorry, Matt.”

Lauer got the message, and later tweeted about the video.

It’s refreshing to see a couple of good sports who can take a joke — even at their own expense.
