Liberal Prince fans who happened to be watching Bloomberg Politics TV Friday got their little hearts broken.

It turns out the late pop legend was a Republican — a conservative Republican, according to one close source.

Former MSNBC host and Prince biographer Touré was asked about Prince’s politics on “With All Due Respect,” given the artist’s “gender stuff, social politics.”

Touré, who wrote the 2013 “I Would Die 4 U: Why Prince Became an Icon,” confirmed that he learned from two sources that Prince was both conservative and Republican.

“Susan Rogers, his engineer on ‘Purple Rain’ told me he was a conservative,” Touré said. “And Eric Leeds, who played saxophone, told me too, like his final argument with Prince was like: ‘I finally figured out what you are: you’re a Republican!’”

But the Prince biographer, hanging to the far-left, attributed the artist’s politics to wanting to hang on to his success.

“When you’re rich, you want status quo so you can maintain being rich. It’s when you don’t have money that you need a revolution.”

Then again, perhaps his conservative roots were much deeper than a desire to hang on to his wealth.
