Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio drew the ire of apologists enabling a deadly culture of drugs in the United States when the law enforcement chief offered a sobering observation following the death of pop superstar Prince.

Celebrity gossip site TMZ reported the day Prince died that he was allegedly treated for a drug overdose six days earlier, saying the music legend’s plane made an emergency landing where he was rushed to a hospital and given a “save shot” of Naloxone, which can save a person’s life after an opiate overdose.

In addition to saying “drugs are killing our nation,” Arpaio noted that for 20 years, his jails have provided drug rehabilitation.

“America’s Toughest Sheriff” offered his condolences to Prince’s family, but that didn’t stop the haters on the left from attacking with a vengeance — it seems the sheriff’s dose of reality undermines the left’s lax stance on drug use.

It didn’t help matters that Arpaio deleted an original tweet and posted the comments above, which are a rephrasing of the deleted tweet:

The liberals at Raw Story praised folks for “acting decently for once” in response to Prince’s death, even boasting how the world reacted “like human beings with a heart and a soul.”

The website followed that up by displaying tweets such as this:
