Bill O’Reilly shot back at “the race hustlers who” criticized remarks he’d made last week about employing the ill-educated, stating that his critics “have apparently not walked the streets of poor neighborhoods lately.”
At about the 6:25 mark of the Fox News host’s “Talking Points Memo,” he played a clip of an interview he’d had last week, when he’d asked Donald Trump he would get jobs for the “uneducated that have tattoos on their foreheads.”
Although O’Reilly never mentioned race during that segment, the “race hustlers” pounced on him, and the Fox News host pounced back — but from a bigger platform.
“The smear merchants hammer anyone who” addresses the issue of “cultural deprivation among underclass children of all colors.”
Although O’Reilly applauded Trump’s intention to create jobs and provide training, but said that to do so “will require a cultural change” going beyond the Republican presidential candidate’s “trade deals and rhetoric.”
“It’s all about personal responsibility and motivation, and who’s preaching that message? Who?” he asked.
“Phony politicians seeking power” are “promising an endless series of entitlements to a population that’s moving away from achievement and into the gimme zone: Gimme, gimme, gimme,” he said.
“Until that deep cultural flaw is exposed — until the phonies, race hustlers and corporate greed heads are called out, we’ll continue see big lies spouted by political deceivers and enabled by a gutless media.”
“God help America,” he concluded.
