‘Terminator’ Schwarzenegger ends interview over Trump question

Arnold Schwarzenegger lived up to his reputation as “The Terminator” on Saturday when he walked out on an interview in progress.

Being an outsider who went on to become the governor of California, it would seem a natural question to ask Schwarzenegger, a Republican, his thoughts on Donald Trump. Even more so considering he replaced Trump on “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

Just don’t try to convince Ahhnold.

The former governor abruptly ended an interview on Australia’s “Weekend Sunrise” program Saturday morning after being asked about the Republican presidential front-runner — Schwarzenegger recently endorsed Trump’s rival, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, for president.

“This is an interview that I only do about fitness and health, not about politics or my relationships,” the actor said before walking off the set, according to the New York Post.

Host Angela Cox has earlier asked Schwarzenegger about his rocky marriage with Maria Shriver, who filed for divorce in July 2011 after learning that Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with the couple’s housekeeper, according to the Post, though the divorce has never been finalized.

In Australia to promote the Arnold World Strongman Championships and other fitness events, he kept the focus on why he was there.

“Well the important thing is that I continue with my work and health and fitness is what really counts for me,” Schwarzenegger replied, when asked hoe the incident has affected his life.

As for walking off the set, Schwarzenegger’s publicist adopted the Bernie Sanders defense, telling the Post the actor didn’t leave in a huff, but that Cox had surpassed her allotted time — never mind that he appeared to undermine his own defense.

“The journalist was allocated five minutes and we ran over time, so we cut the interview short,” publicist Max Markson said. “I think she’s just trying to make a name for herself. She’s new on the show. Her line of questioning was inappropriate.”
