Iraq war vets clash over Trump’s Bush blaming

It was debate time on “The Kelly File” Monday night where two Iraq War veterans clashed over Donald Trump’s remarks over former President George W. Bush’s decision to enter into war with Iraq.

Former Navy SEAL Carl Higbie said he was a Trump supporter notwithstanding the businessman’s remarks at the Republican presidential debate Saturday that Bush’s decision to invade Iraq was a “big fat mistake” that “destabilized the Middle East.”

Higbie remarked that he supports Trump because of his record of setting and accomplishing goals whereas, although he has “immeasurable respect for George W. Bush, Jeb is not his brother.”

Fellow veteran and Fox News contributor Pete Hegseth strongly disagreed, saying that the GOP presidential frontrunner “trashes everybody that he doesn’t agree with.”

He continued, “In this case, he’s trashing the Iraq War and the veterans alongside it who fought valiantly for it.”

Hegseth added that after having won the war, Obama snatched defeat from the jaws of victory to destabilize the region.

“And then Donald Trump has the audacity” to blame 9/11 and the failures of Obama on Bush.

Hegseth admitted that he admired Trump for fighting political correctness, but when all is said and done, “I want a commander-in-chief,” he said, “I want somebody who understands these issues, who is going to rebuild the military.”

Higbee countered that under a President Trump, the Islamic State would be history in two years.
